Ik vergeet u nooit
In Menen, a city in Flanders, an old cemetery awaits its demolition.
‘I’ll never forget you’ captures the life, or lack of life, on that slowly fading cemetery.
The stories of the people who still visit, make the cemetery come alive. The passers-by talk about who they have to miss and by doing so, take the cap of all those things most of us keep bottled up and do not want or are not able to speak of.
With every meeting, with every image of who has once lived and was once dearly loved, there’s the growing realisation: life is now.
Roger, Jean-Pierre, Raymond, Yves, Gilbert, Roland, Guy, Michel, Antoine and Ingrid.
Each of them, in their own way, is occupied with the cemetery, with death and with remembering their loved ones.
‘I’ll never forget you’ is a warm film about saying goodbye.
A film about remembering and forgetting.
A film about love.
